    Responsibilities

    The Buyer position is responsible for strategically negotiating, expediting and procuring the need for commodities such as 3rd party hardware, software, and professional services for our IT and Engineering departments as well as others. The Buyer must have negotiation and problem solving skills to resolve issues related to price, delivery, quality and supplier invoicing. It is key that the Buyer develops and maintains positive relationships and clear lines of communication with various departments within the organization and maintain control of all aspects of the purchasing process.

     

    Buyer will have to perform following duties but not limited to :  

    • Manage day to day business related to purchasing activities
    • Work cooperatively with the team to complete the purchasing requisition from order through receiving goods or services
    • Work closely with the receiver to ensure accuracy of inbound goods with purchase orders
    • Analyze and track requisition and purchase order performance to management’s KPIs and or objectives
    • Work closely with accounts payable to facilitate smooth payment process and resolve potential payment/invoice issues
    • Issuing Purchase orders and managing the maintenance of existing purchase orders
    • Resolve issues in areas of supplier invoice discrepancies in regards to existing purchase orders
    • Effective and continual communication of order status, delivery dates, and changes to all invested parties
    • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, explore and execute cost reduction opportunities
    • Provides recommendation(s) to department(s) from a strategic sourcing perspective on cost management, risk mitigation, and driving lead-times to meet corporate objectives
    • Support management in negotiating price and minimizing the purchase price of products and services
    • Ensure on time deliveries by monitoring the lead time, capacity status, and market conditions of purchased commodities
    • Work with all relevant departments personnel to ensure material requirements, delivery schedules and cost saving initiatives are met
    • Help to maintain and update purchasing policies and procedures according to changing requirements

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or supply chain management and have 2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably within a high-tech environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
    • Strong supplier relationships and track record of results within assigned category
    • Must be able to work under tight deadlines with multiple tasks and priorities with strong organizational capability provided by strong analytical skills
    • Knowledgeable in Engineering & IT procurements involving but not limited to licensing, software, support, implementation, and services
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
    • Proven team player with excellent communication skills between supplier, management and peers
    • Knowledge and experience with change management and change management tools
    • Superior interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be a self-starter with a high degree of organization skills
    • Proficient with Excel and office
    • Active learning and critical thinking
    • Knowledge and experience with use of a major ERP system such as Oracle, Agile is preferred
    • Experience developing, conducting, and processing RFQs and RFPs
