The Product Manager of European and Defense Markets role is integral to the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) organization, which defines new products, features, and enhancements and directs activities to ensure the timely development and delivery of reliable and efficient solutions to meet business requirements.

Responsibilities

This position involves collaborating with the European Protected Waveform (EPW) Consortium, European defense agencies, and commercial vertical markets to define product strategy and requirements. The Product Manager will work closely with Product Owners, product platform managers, sales, and vertical markets to prioritize new products and feature enhancements, ensuring the timely development and delivery of reliable solutions. They will define products to meet market needs, forecast revenue, develop business cases, and act as the customer's proxy. Additionally, the Product Manager will collaborate with product managers and engineering leadership to develop detailed roadmaps and ensure timely execution. This role focuses on new product/services for the European market, including solutions for commercial and defense customers, such as protected waveforms and stronger encryption techniques.

 

  • Manage the complete product lifecycle from conceptualization through development, go-to-market, launch, delivery, and end-of-life.
  • Collaborate with the EPW Consortium, European defense agencies, and commercial vertical markets to define product strategy and requirements.
  • Assess market requirements and develop proposals for technical product direction, evaluating and prioritizing features and enhancements based on business, customer, and strategic value.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support organizations to ensure new product roadmap and development are consistent with the company strategy and commitments.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Product Owners, and other Product Management peers to drive the development of products and features in incremental iterations.
  • Regularly communicate and report product/project status to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert for the portfolio, supporting the Sales team, providing direction to engineering, and supporting RFP/RFQ activities.
  • Participate in worldwide events to exhibit existing and upcoming products.
  • Develop product collateral in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Describe and demonstrate key product and solution benefits to customers and sales team members through product presentations, webinars, and other avenues.
  • Serve as customer proxy with internal stakeholders (e.g., Product Owners, Engineering, Sales), balancing needs of customer with company requirements.
  • Manage the process for evaluating all new product/feature/solutions requests, including gathering and analyzing data required for business case creation, developing and delivering comprehensive business cases, and running business cases through a comprehensive Decision Tree process.
  • Develop subject matter expertise related to products and technical best practices.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with European defense agencies and SatCom is a major plus.
  • Experience as Product Manager in a STEM-related field; satellite communications, networking, IT, or telecommunications.
  • Experience managing portfolios in agile environments consisting of hardware, software, and cloud solutions, including product conceptualization, business case creation, requirements development, and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and deliverables while working with global development, product management, and sales organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively represent the company to external audiences.
  • Business acumen; ability to conduct financial and data analysis, construct and communicate recommendations in a business context.
  • Technical acumen; ability to understand key technical aspects of the product.
  • Prior collaboration with Product Managers and Product Owners to translate market and customer needs into consumable Epics and Stories with acceptance criteria for the engineering organization.
  • Ability to lead teams and drive projects to successful outcomes.
  • Experience managing the entire lifecycle of hardware solutions.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Agile experience is a plus.
  • Experience in security and resiliency type of technologies for government and defense applications is a plus.
  • Should be able to apply for a security clearance to participate in EU and NATO programs, EU citizenship.
  • Travel Requirements: 50% or less.
  • Location: Sint-Niklaas, Belgium (2 days onsite, 3 days remote).
