Overview

We are seeking a talented Satcom Technology &  Standardization Engineer with a strong background in communication technology and related standardizations. As part of the technology team, they will pave the way to define and align our next generation features for iDirect satellite communication products with the relevant communications standards. They will work with an outstanding team of engineers with the goal of building premier and innovative iDirect systems aligned with the standards.

Responsibilities

  • Mastering and guiding the standardization & technology efforts related to Satcom Radio Access Network (RAN; Physical, MAC and RLC layers) and System Architecture.
  • Participating in standards bodies to ensure proposed standards affecting iDirect are technically sound and aligned with the company’s interests. 
  • Write and review company contributions to the standardization bodies.
  • Build, propose and manage execution of funded (EC, ESA, EDF) research & proof of concepts projects in view of IPR build out and standardization proposals.
  • Interact with customers, business development partners, and the executive management team on standardization strategies; document and underpin this strategy with company papers/presentations.
  • Manage internally the communication and collaboration around the related standards/technologies.

Qualifications

Education: 

Master's degree (MSCS/MSEE) in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or closely related field. Possessing a PhD would be a decided plus; minimum five years relevant experience.

 

 

Required Qualifications/Experience: 

  • Profound knowledge of communication technology and related standards
  • In depth knowledge and working experience on the 3GPP standards, more specifically in the areas of RAN (physical layer, MAC and RLC) and System Architecture .
  • Comfortable reading and writing papers and patents.
  • Team player to help shaping the team’s strategy to support the standardization strategy and work with internal and external stakeholders to define and drive standards and product alignment.
  • Knowledge of Satellite communications standards (DVB) is considered a plus.
  • Experience in proposing and/or executing funded R&D projects.
  • Hands-on experience with (or willing to learn) building / troubleshooting / demonstrating Lab setups (Linux, scripting, basic IP networks)
  • Willingness to frequently travel (6 to 8 times a year)
  • European citizenship is required
