The Finance Manager will lead the overall finance support to our engineering organization. This position provides financial and business management support during the full product development cycle, including budgeting, financial analysis, cost analysis and forecasting as required. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring proactive and ongoing communication with engineering management, functional team leads, and finance organization relative to the organization’s financial performance. The successful candidate will provide support for monitoring of cost expenditures, monitoring of the funding profile and status, development of project forecasts and preparation of executive reports.  This position is a first-level manager responsible for direct supervision of an individual contributor.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of Engineering operational expenses, capitalized labor, capital expenditures, headcount, and all project level resource reporting.
  • Oversees preparation of monthly journal entries for capitalized labor and engineering labor allocations.
  • Perform multiple financial cost analysis functions, including cost allocation, setting up cost control systems, collecting data, controlling costs, and preparing reports.
  • Maintain effective systems and processes to enable accurate reporting of all engineering development costs including labor, contractors, purchase orders, timesheet bookings, etc.
  • Timely production of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis required to support internal customer.
  • Ensure development project resource and financial requirements are critically reviewed and challenged.
  • Measure performance against established budgets and analyze variances.
  • Provide support to internal and external auditors.
  • Other duties may be assigned based on experience, skill set and business needs.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS in accounting, finance, business or related discipline is required
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Experience working in a fast pace/high growth environment where they have shown an ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects within a given time.

 

Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Required:
    • Strong analytical and financial planning skills
    • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel skills
    • Extensive project costing/forecasting experience
    • Experience with a large, automated accounting /Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
  • Nice to Have:
    • Oracle and SAP financial skills and/or in-depth knowledge of similar financial systems
    • JIRA and Power BI system experience
    • Strong experience utilizing a data warehousing tool
    • Experience with research and development team in the technology industry
    • Experience working for a global, multi-national organization
